Christmas schmistmas

I'm seriously considering abandoning my family during christmas and go back to Stockholm to do a Christmas Execution Lan, in Gears of War: Ultimate Edition. For £8 I get food and drink and Gears for two straight days! Sounds like heaven, but it's 25-26 December, my parent's will probably kill me.
Oh, the struggle..

Achievement hunting!

I used to be an achievement addict, then I stopped going for gamerscore and just played games because it's fun. Now I've started somewhat again, I'm competing with a friend and want to beat that person's score in the near future. Here's my progress in October, recorded by the excellent page trueachievements.com:
I was on 4375 gamerscore in the start of November (I happen to know that I've already beaten last month since I'm on 5500 now ^^), it'll be interesting to see what my score is in December.

My humble Gears of War collection

Finally getting sorted in the new flat. It's not as nerdy as the old one, but at least I have the arcade and games and stuff. These are my favourite  shelfs:
 And on my fridge:

 Here's an overview:

Comic Con / Gamex Stockholm!

Had such an awesome time last weekend at the Comic Con / Gamex exhibition!
You could try lots of games (but the queues were really long, so I didn't play anything).  They had Halo 5, Star Wars: Battlefront, Just Cause 3, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Mirror's Edge 2 etc.
I found Gears of War: Ultimate and stood there watching people play and talked to a friend who works at Microsoft, that was nice.
I am so important I got to use the VIP Press entrance and didn't have to stand in line ^^
Besides being able to try new games, the fair also had lots of nerdy things to buy, illustrators who were there, Ian McEhlhinney and Ian Beattie (actors from Game of Thrones) were there giving autographs, there was a panel discussing games and comics, the Heavy Metal band Sabaton was there, lots of cosplayers etc.
It was just great fun!

Moving tomorrow!

Have been busy lately packing and sorting all my stuff, tomorrow I am moving to a considerably smaller flat than this one, but it's gonna be great and I'm excited! :D

I found no less than 8 Xbox 360-controllers, haha ^^

(am I bringing all of them to my new small flat? Why, yes :P)

Now: Comic Con / Gamex Stockholm wooooop!

Mass Effect!

I know, I know, shame on me for never having played any of them. But it's never too late! (It's just too bad I have a shit-load to do in Uni and is generally very busy at the moment, but whatevs)

Banned from Xbox Live! :O

Man, I got an email from Microsoft saying that my account has been banned because of "offensive content on your profile". So it's either on my gamer picture, on the bio, in the location or in my name. This is what it looks like:
It can obviously be the bio, apparently the * doesn't help and you can still read the word shit. (who knew!) However, what if it is fact my name?? It's happened before, on Super Smash Bros. to Wii U, they wouldn't let me call myself Fanny because it is "inappropriate language". I only got banned for a day, and I have changed my bio. But still! I have a craving for Gears, buuuhuuu! :'(

A nerd fest

Last Saturday I hosted an annual video game tournament. What I do is that I gather all my nerdiest friends and make them compete against each other in games from 5 different categories. This year we played Tetris (puzzle), Street Fighter II (fighting), Pac-man (arcade), Mariokart Wii (racing) and Super Bomberman II (surprise). Since I love to do the little extra to these events, I made these snacks ;)

Wore, obviously, earrings to match the evening. Also, my Tetris lamp came in handy :P

It was epic!

Streaming with viewers!

It was a lot of fun last night when I was going for the CQC achievement on Gow UE, and Jackal hosted my stream and promoted it on Twitter. Out of nowhere, my viewers went from 1 to 18! First time I've streamed with an audience, thankfully I didn't make a complete arse of myself ;) I even got a viewer to help me with the achievement, had 6 matches to go.

Got a lot of support and followers, the Gears community is so great! It was a lot of fun, will definitely do it again (I'm just eagerly awaiting Gow 3 to be backward compatible on the Xbox One so I can stream that game ;P)

Halo 4!

Got another thing of beauty from the mailman today
Oh, you're wondering how the saving-for-the-new-flat is going? Very well, why do you ask? :D

The first week with Gears of War: Ultimate Edition

Yes, I know that the game was actually released on Friday last week, but since I got it on the Saturday (and it took like a day to install) I'm gonna say that it's been a week from today!

How are my thoughts on the game? Well, it's Gears of War, I automatically love it. Even though I must have played the campaign in the very first game about 10 times, it was a while ago now and I just looved to play it remastered, it's so beautiful! :') Me and my friend in armour Hallinskioi played through the entire campaign in a day, on insane, and it was a lot of fun. The added chapters were great, very hard (oh, what a suiting title on act IV: "Comedy of Errors"), but sweet with new missions on an already beloved game!

People have raged much more than me (I am very forgiving when it comes to the Gears-series), but here are the things that have bugged me:
¤ The unregularity when it comes to the gnasher. Sometimes you get a headshot from 6 feet, and other times you put three shots into the players chest with no effect what so ever (as can be demonstrated in the clip below at 1:44 and 2:12). Which brings me to my next point:
¤ It's impossible to kill a downed enemy with one shot, at least close range! It shouldn't be that hard, really. But yes, it takes (at least) two. (see 00:59, 2:58)
¤ The weapons respawning so fast. How come you have a boomshot when I still have a shot left? I liked the idea that you could "hog" a weapon from the other team in Gears of War 3, or at least that it takes a while before it comes back. Now it's just snipers everywhere.
¤ The melee is far to OP, come one people, if I had to stop using the chainsaw and start with the gnasher, then you have to as well!
¤ I miss ghost cam (yes, I spend a lot of time watching others when I'm dead..) :'(
¤ Whyy does the Hammer of Dawn have unlimited ammo, who thought of that??

Anyway, here's a few clips from the first week, overall I love the game (even though my K/D score must be just awful ^^), but I miss Gears of War 3, might go back to that after this weekend of double XP ;)

My nerdy flat

I am about to move to a smaller place this Autumn, but feel like I should brag about my slightly nerdy decorated flat in Stockholm first. Here are some pics:

The results from the tournament

It was an epic 2v2 tournament last night. 11 teams signed up. We won 2 games out of 4 and made it to the semi finals. I am pleased about that, even though I strongly (very very strongly) feel I could have played better. I did one nice clutch on Fuel Depot though, starting to make those gnasher pop shots I guess.. (of course no one was watching right that second, but at least my poor team mate was cheering ;P)

Anyway, nice work Microsoft Sweden for arranging it, hoping for more of the sort in the future!

2v2 in Gears of War Ultimate Edition

Practicing for a 2v2 tournament in Gears of War Ultimate Edition, tomorrow night, in Stockholm!
It's gonna be epic. Winning team gets the digital deluxe edition of the game, plus the glory of course. I'll let you know how it went!
